Skills & Services

Research:

Qualitative Research & Analysis: I have extensive experience in archival research, qualitative methods (interviews, focus groups, observations), and policy analysis. My work spans global humanitarian effectiveness studies to British historical investigations.

Subject expertise: 1) Humanitarian studies – history of the international humanitarian system; 2) refugee policy and protection in India, especially for Rohingya refugees; 3) British housing history and policy. These specialist subjects are connected through their emphasis on social justice, marginalisation and displacement.

Research skills coaching: I have taught, coached and mentored undergraduate and masters students, PhD students, school students and non-academics. I offer coaching on community-based research, history methods, and sociological field studies. I also offer workshop facilitation, public speaking, and educational programme development.

Writing & editing:

Writing & Content Creation: My track record includes trade book writing, academic writing and editing, policy briefs, ghostwriting and blog content creation – navigate my website tabs for recent publications. I’ve written for diverse audiences from academic peers and policymakers to general readers.

Grant-writing: I have a proven track record of securing substantial funding. I have been actively involved in successful grant applications totalling over £5 million. My experience includes leading and writing successful proposals, coordinating teams of grant applicants, peer reviewing grant applications, and understanding funder requirements across different sectors. See my CV overview below for my grant record highlights.

Editing and writing skills coaching: I provide specialised academic editing, research skills coaching, and manuscript development services. My experience editing books, mentoring academic and non-academic researchers, and editing for academic and generalised publications positions me well for writing support services.

Digital Communication: I offer digital communication skills including website development, blog editing, and social media marketing. My role as Global Communications Lead for the UCL-based GRRIPP project (£4.7m 2018-2024) demonstrates my global digital communication experience.
